- 1 cup virgin coconut oil
- 8-10 sun-dried hibiscus flowers
- 10-11 hibiscus leaves, separated from the stem, washed and sun-dried
- 1/2 cup shallots, finely sliced
- A handful of curry leaves and tulsi
Traditionally, this oil is made using cookware made with clay, copper, or bronze), but you could use a copper-bottomed saucepan.
- Bring the coconut oil to a boil on a low flame.
- First, add the finely chopped shallots.
- They will turn crisp very quickly, so be careful do not to burn these.
- Add the other ingredients (with no trace of water or moisture).
- Bring everything to a boil on low heat for about 25-30 minutes.
- Once done, set it aside to cool down completely.
- After that, strain the oil using a muslin cloth or a fine sieve into a dry glass container.
Warm The Oil
You must warm the hair oil for a few seconds until it is warm, no matter what your hair type is.
This facilitates deeper penetration and seals the cuticles of the hair in order to keep the scalp moisturized.
Massage Your Scalp
Massaging the scalp activates the follicles of the hair and increases blood flow to the scalp.

- Massage the oil gently for 10-15 minutes on your scalp.
- Massage in circular movements using your fingertips and gently rub the oil and cover the entire scalp region.

Wrap Your Hair With A Warm Towel
The deeper penetration of oils into your scalp and hair is encouraged by wrapping your hair in a warm towel.
This helps to rejuvenate dry and damaged hair and also seals the hair with moisture.
Tip: Do not tie or wrap your hair tightly as it may cause breakage.
Rinse It Off Well
- Let the oil soak your hair overnight.
- Wash it off the next day with a mild shampoo.
- As your hair will begin to attract dirt, do not leave it on for more than 24 hours.
- In order to clean your hair, use regular or cold water.
